I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be streamed live on Netflix.
Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to publicize the upcoming boxing match.
Former twice unified boxing king Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami venue on December 19th.
Boxer's Mentality
"I will break his face and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, said.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I intend to seriously aim to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Interaction
Despite such comments, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically known for his theatrics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul instead attacked ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and labeled him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.
"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.
"I give him credit for that."
Serious Opponent
Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake Paul is a serious fighter," he stated.
Jake Paul's History
Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's greatest money-making draws, consistently making massive paydays.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the long-awaited Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.
Physical Disparity
As the two fighters participated in the customary face-off, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it emphasized just how surprising this whole event is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is actually proceeding.
